After rides, your helmet is covered in dirt, dust, mud and other residues. It is important to maintain your helmet before and after rides. Not looking after the helmet would cause the helmet to reduce its lifespan. To clean the helmet correctly, there are simple guides on how to clean a motorcycle helmet.

How to Clean your Helmet for a Non-Removable Liner

Whether you are a new or professional rider, you will have a dirty helmet after the ride. It is crucial to clean the helmet correctly and use the right products to avoid harming your headwear. If your helmet has a non-removable liner, you need to gather the following items.

Things you need:

  • A mild shampoo (preferably Johnsons)
  • A plastic container
  • Microfiber cloth (2-3 sheets)
  • A visor cleaner spray
  • Cotton swabs

Method:

  1. To clean a motorcycle helmet is to remove the cheek pads, breath guard, extra accessories and the visor. If your helmet has the Best Motorcycle Bluetooth Headset, I suggest you remove that miniature device as well.
  2. Squirt some mild shampoo on the plastic container and fill in the container with lukewarm water. If your helmet covers heavily in mud and dirt, you can add more shampoo to the container.
  3. Rinse the helmet with water and dip the wet helmet in the container with soapy water until the helmet covers completely in soap.

Note: If your helmet is very dirty, drain out the contaminated water and fill in the container with soap and lukewarm water.

  1. Massage the lining with shampoo and the interior liner must cover in thick soap as well. To clean the smaller parts of your helmet is to use cotton swabs.
  2. Rinse the helmet thoroughly until all of the soap disappears. Then clean the helmet with a microfiber cloth and let your helmet air dry.
  3. To clean the visor is to use a visor spray cleaner and clean the visor with a microfiber cloth.

Note: If you do not have a visor cleaner spray, you can clean the visor with water and clean with the cloth.

  1. To clean the cheek pads and the breath guard is to repeat the steps 2-5 and leave the remaining parts to air dry.

How to Clean your Helmet for a Removable Liner

If your helmet has a removable liner, this will be easy for you as you can clean the interior padding and the exterior shell separately. To know how to clean a motorcycle helmet, you need to gather the following equipment.

Things you need:

  • A mild shampoo
  • 2-3 sheets of microfiber towel
  • A plastic container
  • A visor cleaner spray
  • Cotton swabs

Method:

  1. To clean the inner liner and the pads, pull the interior padding out of the helmet and fill in the container with a mild shampoo and water.

Note: If the liner and cheek pads cover heavily in dirt, mud and other residues, you can add more shampoo in the container.

  1. Rinse the liner and pads, dip them in the soapy water, and wash the two parts until they are completely covered in soap.
  2. Wash the inner liner and pads thoroughly until all of the soap disappears and leave it to air dry.
  3. To clean the exterior shell of the Pink Motorcycle Helmet is to drain out the contaminated water and remove the visor out of the helmet.
  4. Fill in the container with warm water and a mild shampoo then soak the microfiber cloth in the washing mixture and drape the cloth over the helmet for a few minutes if there are bugs.
  5. Remove the wet contaminated towel, use a fresh towel, and dip it in the washing mixture. Then gently rub the towel all over the helmet until it covers in soap. Rub the same process if your helmet is very dirty.
  6. To clean the vents channel and other smaller areas is to use cotton swabs.
  7. Wash the helmet thoroughly until the soap disappears. Then wipe the helmet with a clean microfiber towel and leave it air dry.
  8. To clean the visor is to use a visor cleaner spray and wipe with a cloth.
