Things to Do on Zákynthos Greece

There are many things to do in Zákynthos Greece, but how do you choose what to do on your vacation? Well, I’ve done all the hard work for you.

I visited Zákynthos Greece twice – in the summer and winter – and I’ve taken photos of the top things to do. I’ll share these tips with you to help you plan your trip.

Shipwreck Beach (Navagio Beach)

When you’re in Zákynthos Greece, you should head to Navagio Beach. It’s a beautiful spot, with clear water, a sandy beach, and lots of activities to do.

One of the most popular activities is taking a boat ride to a shipwreck. They’re quite popular because it’s a fun activity, but they’re also educational.

Visit The Venetian Castle

It doesn’t matter if you’re traveling to Zákynthos Greece with your family or with friends, you must visit The Venetian Castle.

If you’ve never been to this site, it’s probably because it’s just outside of Chora. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and you can visit the ruins of the Venetian castle that once dominated the area.

It’s beautiful, and the views are amazing. There is also a castle museum where you can see artifacts from the past.

Zákynthos Town (Zante Town)

Zákynthos Town is the capital of the Greek island of Zákynthos. In terms of size, Zákynthos Town is much bigger than Athens or Mykonos Town. In fact, the city has a population of more than 100,000.

Zákynthos Town is also the main port and business center of the island. This means it’s the best place to visit if you’re looking for hotels, restaurants, and nightlife.

The Cliffs of Keri

These cliffs are located on the southwest coast of Zákynthos. They stretch for about four kilometers and offer a magnificent view.

The best way to reach the cliffs is to drive down to the village of Kato Petalouda and then follow the signs.

You will see a signpost for the “Keri Cliffs” on your right hand side.

You can either walk there or drive there. It’s about 45 minutes away.

Roma Mansion

When it comes to things to do in Zákynthos Greece, you cannot miss visiting Roma Mansion. It’s a 17th century manor house, the largest mansion in Europe, and it’s located in one of the most beautiful spots of the island.

The house is still decorated with its original furniture, and you can take part in the tour as well as enjoy the amazing views.

You can stay at Roma Mansion for up to 30 people and experience a unique luxury getaway in Zákynthos Greece.

Byzantine Museum

The Byzantine Museum of Zákynthos Greece is one of the most important museums in the country.

It’s not just because it’s one of the oldest museums in Greece. It’s also the only museum in Greece dedicated exclusively to Byzantium, the empire that covered most of Europe during the early middle ages.

It’s definitely worth visiting. The exhibits are extremely interesting, and the architecture is beautiful.

Blue Caves

The blue caves of Zákynthos are unlike anywhere else on the Greek island.

They’re not open to the public, so if you want to see them, you’ll need to go on a private tour. But if you’re lucky enough to visit during the season, you can see thousands of shimmering blue crystals hanging from the ceiling of these mysterious underground caverns.

Porto Limnionas

Porto Limnionas is a pretty place to spend a day or two. It’s located by the sea in the western part of the island and it’s a popular place for locals to visit.

The view from the beach is breathtaking, and the nearby Larnaca airport is only a short drive away.

Xigia Beach

Xigia Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Zákynthos Greece. It is located in the southwestern part of the island. The beach is surrounded by a lush green forest and is easily accessible.

Xigia Beach is a great place to relax and unwind. If you’re traveling with kids, you can rent a house or apartment close to the beach.

To get to Xigia Beach from the capital of Zákynthos, Rethymno, it is a 10-minute drive. You can also take a bus, a taxi, or rent a car.

Askos Stone Park

The Askos Stone Park is located in the center of the island.

You can walk around the park and find the biggest stone monument in Greece, which was built during the Roman Empire. The monument has a giant statue of Askos, a legendary Greek warrior who was killed by an arrow shot by his wife.

The park is located right next to the Askos Monastery, which has a rich history. It was founded by Saint Athanasios, a monk who was exiled from Constantinople.

You can also visit the Askos Castle, which was built in the 12th century. The castle is still in use today, and you can visit the small museum within.

The Askos Castle is located at the end of a long road. If you’re driving, be sure to bring a map.
