CAN YOU GROW LONG HAIR WITH HAIR TRANSPLANTS?
You will probably be full of questions before you decide to get a hair transplant. Understandably, you’re probably thinking about where to have your hair transplant done, whether or not to travel abroad, worrying about this process; whether it will hurt, or which surgeon to choose. Besides, one big question that most people dealing with hair loss have in mind: Can you grow long hair with hair transplants?
What Is Hair Transplantation?
Hair transplantation is one of the most common techniques used for the treatment of those who have a hair loss problem. In this process, hair follicles are removed from one part of the body, known as the ‘donor area’, and then these hair follicles are placed in the bald or balding part of the body. This area is known as the ‘recipient site’. The treatment method is firstly used to treat male pattern baldness. This process is performed with an invasive operation, and the hair follicles that are genetically resistant to balding are transplanted to the bald scalp.
Can You Grow Long Hair With Hair Tansplants?
The answer to that question is, yes! In the process, the transplanted hairs are natural, so they grow like normal hair. So you will have long hair after the procedure. But you will need some time to get the long hair you desire. Because, after the hair transplantation process growth happens gradually. You can find these processes below.
Firsth Month After Hair Transplantation
The first month after a hair transplantation, you can see a lot of hair loss, it’s called ‘shock loss”. But, don’t worry, because this is a very normal process. Shock loss is averagely seen in 3 to 4 months after the procedure. Although it varries from person to person, this process is usually completed within two to three weeks of the process.
3 to 6 Months After Hair Transplant
Shock loss should be completed after 3 months of hair restoration. During the first three months, the healing process continues on the scalp. So, during this process, there may be various tissue reactions (such as spotting and itching, etc.). You should not apply any products to your scalp (except for the products the doctor recommended), and do not let your mind scratch to your scalp in the process.
Usually, from the fourth month onwards accelerating hair growth process is completed in the sixth month. After these sixth months, complaints such as residual injury, and irritation, almost completely disappear, and hair focuses solely on lengthening.
One Year After Hair Transplant
In some patients, at the end of the first year and in others, approximately six months after that, the prolongation process is completely over. This process is often associated with the structure and recovery performance of the patient’s scalp.
