Here are some effective tips for improving and maintaining your feet health:

  1. Only Buy the Best Shoes

Some people have one foot that is smaller than the other, and if it is right in your case, always remember to buy fit shoes for your smaller foot. Do not go for pretty pair of shoes. There are some guidelines you need to follow while buying shoes to keep your feet healthy:

  • Walk around and make sure that you do not experience slipping or rubbing
  • Enough depth in shows so that the toes do not rub the tops
  • The ball of the foot should fit comfortably
  • Stand up with shoes and make sure that there is a one-inch distance between your long toe and the front of the shoes
  • Try to Maintain a Healthy Weight

Being obese affects the feet by putting bigger force on them with each step. Obesity can also increase the risks of several conditions such as arthritis in the feet and may worsen pain caused by other foot problems. Being overweight can also increase the chances of harm to foot health by putting you at a higher risk of poor blood circulation or diabetes, which may lead to loss of sensation in the feet or foot pain.

  • Keep your feet dry and clean

Good hygiene is considered essential for healthy feet. Scrub and clean your feet with soap and water every time you take a bath. After taking a bath, dry them with tissues or a clean towel. Fungi love moisture; therefore, deprive it of any wetness, and this will make it more difficult for him to thrive.

Make sure to dry well each toe because excessive moisture between toes can increase the risks of fungal infection to begin.

  • Always Choose Breathable Footwear

To improve and maintain your foot health, try to wear leather shoes that allow air to circulate. Air circulation will keep your feet dry. If you are more disposed to excessively sweaty feet, then you need to look for shoes made of mesh fabrics for extreme breathability.

  • Cut Toenails Properly and Regularly

Make sure to cut the increased nails and avoid trimming too close to your skin or around the corners of the nails, which may cause ingrown or painful toenails.

  • Stretch Your Feet

Usually, people do not consider thinking about stretching the bottoms and tops of their feet. Stretching can play an essential role in preventing and treating foot pain. Stretches are also important for the Achilles’ tendon.

  • Inspect Your Feet Regularly

Try to check your feet every day for small cuts, cracked skin, redness, or blisters. If you are unable to see the feet’s bottom, go for a hand mirror with magnification. If you find any problem, immediately contact a doctor or physical therapist. Do not ignore a problem related to your feet. However, unfortunately, if you are experiencing diabetes, then you need to check your feet every day.

  • Keep Your Blood Sugar Levels Normal

There are greater risks that diabetes can affect your feet. High blood sugar levels can lead to loss of skin sensation and nerve damage. Reduced blood flow can also make it difficult for feet to heal from injuries or infections.

Proper nutrition physical activities can be effective in preventing type 2 diabetes. Whether you are experiencing diabetes or not, it is essential for you to involve yourself in daily activities, which will help you to prevent many chronic conditions and diseases.

  • Don’t Try to Hide Toenails with Polish

A thick, discolored, crumbling, or cracked nail can be a signal of a nail fungus. Covering infected nails with polish can make the problem worse.

  1. Avoid Sharing Footgear

You can experience fungal nail infections by wearing other socks or shoes. Make sure to wear your own shoes and socks to keep your feet healthy.

  1. Protect  Your Shoes in Public Areas

Always try to wear shower shoes at the public pools, gym, or locker rooms. These places are breeding grounds for fungi leading to infections.
