Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

The world we live in is the one that future generations will be living in, too. For this reason, we should do our best to leave the space in much better condition than it is now. Yes, it will take a lot of work, but if everyone is willing to do their part, it is something that can be done. When it comes to making an impact on the state of the planet Earth or in our city Calgary, there are several things that any one person, family, corporation, or group can do, but if everyone is willing to remember three simple words, “reduce, reuse, recycle,” in their daily lives, our world will be a much better place for it.

Reduce! Have you thought of ways to reduce your use of the things you use on a regular basis? If you sit down and think about it, there are many options for reducing. What do you use on a daily basis that you can reduce? Can you drive less? Can you reduce your use of plastic water bottles and use a reusable one instead?

You can reduce your use of utilities. For instance, you can use less water. Turn it off when you are brushing your teeth. Take showers instead of baths. You can also make sure that all of your faucets are working like they should and not leaking. Try to find other ways in your daily life that will reduce your use of water.

You can also reduce your use of electricity. Make sure to turn off lights, television sets, and other items that run on electricity when you are not using them. Also, look for electrical items that you can use less. Change out light bulbs for more energy efficient ones. As your finances allow, switch out your appliances for newer models that use less electricity. You can also make sure your home is free from drafts. These are just a few things you can do to reduce your use of electricity.

Reuse! Another thing you can do to help better our planet is to reuse. What items that you currently have or use can be used again? For example, can you hand down clothes that you no longer want. Someone else can use them so you they don’t have to buy more. It’s a win-win situation. Also, instead of throwing out various items, find ways to reuse them so they don’t end up in the landfills. Get benefit from using free junk removal Calgary service to help people reuse your items. You can use plastic sour cream, butter, or cottage cheese containers to store leftovers. Glass jars are also good to save and reuse for various items. Old furniture can be reused by repairing it, painting or staining it, and enjoying it.

Recycle! You can also recycle many different materials instead of throwing these things away. Depending on where you live and what items are commonly recycled, most areas recycle metal, paper and plastic. For example you can choose mattress recycling Calgary instead of throw it away. To make recycling easy in your home or office, designate bins for each group of items that you plan to recycle. By making it as easy as possible to do the right thing with these items, you will be more likely to make smart choices for our planet.

As you can see, there are many actions you can take that will help our planet. Instead of being overwhelmed with all of the different things you can do, remember the words, “reduce, reuse, and recycle,” and then do what you can to incorporate these actions into your daily life. It may take some time to get into the habit of doing these things, but every little bit will help.
